The File Sharing Dilemma
Artist Support, Fan Funded Projects, Donations Page
With the forever changing creative marketplace, surviving in today's music
industry, is somewhat of a major challenge for any musician.
We depend on you as our fans, fellow musicians, students, and people who just love music,
to attend performances, purchase our books, our CD's, our MP3’s and other merchandise.
For many musicians, income from the sales of tickets, music, and merchandise combined,
all too often, do not meet the needs of even the most conservative lifestyle.
I am sure everyone has heard about file sharing. Though most of us don't really think about the
impact it has throughout the entire artistic community. With budget cuts eliminating virtually
all worthwhile music education in our schools and universities, it falls upon, and
simply leaves it up to the public to support their favorite performers.
When we file share the work of our favorite artists, their earning a living as a musician
becomes that much more difficult; the ripple effects of this practice is widespread.
We fail to see the long term reality: sharing files denies the artist of the income he or she needs to live;
the artist can no longer produce the very thing we love about them: their music.
In the long term, the consequences of this practice can lead to the absence of future creative opportunities for everyone. Jobs in the music industry are gradually diminishing and musicians can no longer make a living solely producing music. We, the people, need to nurture a culture that believes in the value of art, of all kinds.
In The News: "Why Music Makes You Happy"
A must read article, exemplifies the importance of music in the world!
FREE downloads are offered "HERE" in appreciation of your support.
I like to think of your support here, much in the same way I would if I were
performing live for you as a street musician at the pier or marketplace.
A token of your appreciation tossed into my saxophone case because you
enjoyed listening to my music for a while on a sunny afternoon.
With live performance opportunities continuously diminishing,
this website provides a way for me to reach everyone with music.
Years of practicing and recording, creating music that just sits dormant on a hard drive
is like creating a masterpiece in the form of a painting or sculpture.... then never taking it out
of the studio to be viewed by art lovers. The artists "self expression" is suppressed.
Donations, of any amount are greatly appreciated but not required to join in the fun. It is helpful in allowing me to continue doing what I love, and what I do best: produce music for you, play the saxophone, write books, and other educational materials for saxophonists, students, fans, and people who just love music.
Your investment in me, works much in the same way as "Artist Share" or "Kick Starter" websites do,
by helping independent artists raise revenue allowing them to simply continue their work.
At Sax Appeal Publishing, the primary difference is that you are assisting me
by funding all my work, not just a specific project.
In return for asking for your donations, I am providing access to a selected library of my music, for you to download, FREE. I encourage you you stay involved, assist with my creative process and vote on projects and ideas in limbo located on my
Fan Funded Projects, page.
Help me by providing feedback and comments, like too much bass for example, or that motion panning thing gives me a headache, it all helps in the mixing process and provides a direct connection to your critique and opinions. Based on your feedback, I will invest more time on the songs the you choose. Or on the other hand, delete them if need be, and happily clear some room on my hard drive for new music.
Come along for the ride and enjoy the saxophone experience with me!
If I had to sum up my entire career as a saxophonist in short paragraph, it would be.....
With no disrespect intended, what other masters did or are doing matters little, it's their experience, their time.
Your personal experience with your saxophone is what counts.
It's my saxophone, my time, my opportunity to explore it and soar
through the sound of music, whenever and wherever I can.
All transactions are handled through Paypal for your secuirty.

Your listening to a "Screaming Silence" a short movie by Matt Ruggieri, Tuff Guy Productions, 2004
I recorded the sound track in 2003. One of my first ventures in Pro Tools, a movie sound track, I admit it was fun having to define the mood of the film with sound. My hats off the masters of music in film and television. Can you even imagine Movies and TV without a musical sound track?
