"Hip Note Therapy", by Frank Villafranca, A piece in 5/4 inspired by a "Sting" guest performance during a "Chris Botti" concert I happened to catch on television. Interestingly, while putting the rhythm tracks together, I was able to use a simple melody I composed my first year out of Berklee back in 1979. It laid dormant in my mind except for every now and then, I'd try to harmonize it without any real luck. Finally I realized less was more and used fewer chords, a common progression and stretched it out. Enjoy! Check out "Sting" w/Chris Botti on Youtube. It's the link to the performance, for which I owe my inspiration!
"Free Sax", by Frank Villafranca. An avant guard piece, recorded live to track, features two, solemn, to frolicking, interweaving tenor saxophones. Experimental of course! It is a nice meditation piece, though it's energy fluctuates. It is a very saxxy adventure for sure.
"Frank's Sonata" an original by Frank Villafranca. This version, recorded at home about 5 years ago. It was later arranged for "San Gabriel 7" and included on their "Blame It On Trio" CD
Need A Unique Ring Tone? A sax arrangement by Dave Cushman
A little more seriously now, here are some really cool saxophone arrangements of original compositions performed by Frank Villafranca. Versions of original compostions, commissioned by San Gabriel 7, by Dave Cushman
